Biographical Information

Carl Evans is an equity partner at McCathern and he practices in the areas of non-subscriber employer defense, trucking, liquor liability, employment, commercial, construction, subrogation, tort and insurance litigation. Mr. Evans has an extensive litigation and trial background, having tried numerous cases in state and federal courts. Mr. Evans has also obtained defense verdicts in arbitrations involving claims of fraud, negligence, breach of contract and breach of warranty. Additionally, Mr. Evans has successfully represented numerous clients in summary judgment motions that have included claims for bad faith, fraud, negligence, premises liability, breach of contract and breach of warranty. Recently, Mr. Evans obtained a summary judgment for a national retail chain in a personal injury case, where it was the first time in 20 years the presiding judge had granted a summary judgment in such a case. He also recently obtained summary judgement in a multimillion-dollar personal injury case involving the defense of a large construction company. Mr. Evans is licensed to practice in Texas and Alabama. Reported cases include: State of Alabama v. Tenaska Alabama Partners, 847 So. 2d 962 (Ala.Civ.App. 2002); Bledsoe-Colvin v. Alexander, 127 F. Supp. 2d 136 (M.D. Ala. 2001); Dobbs v. Siegelman, 724 So. 2d 1137 (Ala. 1998).

Carl was born in Montgomery, Alabama. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1992, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in History. Mr. Evans earned his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1997. While in law school he was a member of the Journal of the Legal Profession, which is awarded to law students that are in the top 20% of their class. Before moving to Dallas, Mr. Evans began his legal career with the 250+ attorney firm of Balch & Bingham LLP in Birmingham, Alabama. Mr. Evans maintains his Alabama license and assists McCathern’s clients throughout the south, where he has tried cases in Alabama, Mississippi and Kentucky.  Carl also regularly conducts mock trials for the insurance industry dealing with cases involving catastrophic losses in Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida.
