Biographical Information

Don obtained his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1978 and his Juris Doctorate from Duke University School of Law in 1984.  Don has successfully represented clients in serious personal injury and wrongful death cases in the state and federal courts of North Carolina where he has obtained numerous multi-million dollar verdicts. Don has also successfully litigated business tort cases in the state and federal courts in North Carolina and South Carolina, federal courts in Florida and Maryland, and state court in Arizona.

Don Strickland has earned a 5.0 AV-Preeminent rating from Martindale- Hubbell® – its highest rating for lawyers in legal ability and ethical standards.  Don has earned inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® each year since 2000 and has been listed as a North Carolina Super Lawyer since 2006.  Don was recently named Best Lawyers® 2015 “Lawyer of the Year” in Plaintiff’s Personal Injury Litigation in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Don has been selected to Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite in the field of litigation on multiple occasions, most recently in 2014.

Don serves on the Board of Directors of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, an invitation-only organization that limits its membership in the United States to 500 active trial lawyers under the age of 70 and has fellows in more than 30 countries. Don is a fellow of the International Society of Barristers, and the American Board of Trial Advocacy, two other prominent invitation-only legal organizations.  Don is active in the American Association of Justice where he is a member of the Presidents Club and Leaders Forum.   He is also a member of the Presidents Club and Leaders Forum of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice and has served on its Board of Governors.
