Gregory Olney

Gregory “Skip” Olney was born in 1947 in Fort Lewis, Washington.  He was an army brat who attended 16 different schools before graduating from high school in Columbus, Georgia.  He attended the Citadel, was commissioned as a second lieutenant and served in the infantry in the United States Army.  He is a Viet Nam War combat veteran.  He left the army as a captain in 1973 and went to iowa where he farmed for seven years, raising corn, soybeans and livestock.

In 1980 Mr. Olney enrolled at Stetson University College of Law and graduated in 1982.  From 1982-1986 he served as an assistant state attorney, during which time he conducted more than 50 jury trials and developed into a senior felony prosecutor entrusted with some of the most sensitive prosecutions handled by the Office of the State Attorney.  In 1986. Mr Olney joined the law firm of Meros, Smith, Lazzara, Brennan, Brennan and Olney.  Since that time, Mr. Olney has handled more than 3500 criminal cases,  and hundreds of personal injury cases.

Mr Olney is married to Janet Hunter-Olney, a division director at the State Attorneys Office, 6th Judicial Circuit,  and between them they have four children and two grandchildren.

Mr Olney was selected by his peers for inclusion in “The Law and Leading Attorneys Florida Consumer’s Guide Book” first edition, as a leading criminal defense attorney.  He is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbard. He is rated 10 Superb by AVVO.  He had been recognized as being in the Nation’s Top One Percent by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel.  He has been selected as one of the Top 100 Criminal Defense lawyers in the State of Florida in 2016 by The American Society of Legal Advocates.
