Biographical Information

Born and raised in western Minnesota, Jason learned the value of hard work early, spending summers on his uncle’s farm and serving in the Army Reserve as an Intelligence Analyst. After earning his law degree from Hamline University in 2000 and moving to Southern Minnesota to practice family law.

In 2008, Jason founded Kohlmeyer Hagen to provide clients with the personal attention and clear guidance they deserve during life’s most challenging times. Since then, he has focused exclusively on family law, representing clients in divorce, child custody, spousal support, and complex farm and business divorce cases.

An experienced trial lawyer and frequent speaker on family law issues, Jason is also the author of The Divorce Survival Guide: Getting Divorced in Minnesota and hosts the Minnesota Family Law & Divorce Questions podcast. He lives in Mankato with his wife and children and writes a weekly blog answering the legal questions Minnesota families face every day.
