Biographical Information

JEFFREY A. WEISSMAN is a Principal with the law firm of Gladstone & Weissman, P.A. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School (J.D., 1994). Mr. Weissman is Board Certified in Marital and Family Law and is AV-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He was named “2014 Family Law Lawyer of the Year – Miami Metropolitan Area (Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Boca Raton)” by The Best Lawyers in America©, and has been repeatedly selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America©, Florida Legal Elite, Florida Super Lawyers (Top 100 List) and South Florida Legal Guide – Top Lawyers. Mr. Weissman is also a Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator and a Supreme Court Certified Guardian Ad Litem. He is a member of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar, where he serves on the Executive Council and is a past Co-Chair of the Legislation Committee. Mr. Weissman has been instrumental in the enactment of many family law statutes. He authored the parental relocation law, Section 61.13001, which became effective on October 1, 2006.

He is a past Co-Chair of the following two (2) publications: The Family Law Commentator and The Florida Bar Journal, Family Law Section. Moreover, Mr. Weissman has held important and prestigious positions within the Broward County Bar Association. He completed a four (4) year term on the Board of Directors and is a past President of the Family Law Section. Mr. Weissman was afforded the distinguished honor of the Paul May Professionalism in Practice Award, which is an annual award that the Broward County Bar Association bestows upon a lawyer in the community who exemplifies ethics and integrity in his day-to-day practice. He is a past Chair of 17th Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee “A” of the Florida Bar, which is an entity authorized by the Supreme Court to regulate the practice and professionalism of lawyers within our community. Mr. Weissman was recently selected to become a Founding Master Member of the Palm Beach Chapter, Family Law American Inns of Court, which promotes professionalism and ethics in the legal system. He is also a member of the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association. He has lectured throughout the State of Florida on assorted topics concerning Family Law. Mr. Weissman is a regularly featured speaker at the most prestigious Family Law seminars each year, and he has appeared as a guest on the television series, “Your Legal Rights.”

Mr. Weissman limits his practice to complex matrimonial and family law cases. His clientele is comprised of many successful entrepreneurs, business owners and executives, doctors, lawyers, television personalities, and professional athletes. Whenever possible, he strives to reduce the emotional and financial strain of protracted litigation by resolving matters on an amicable basis. However, where court intervention is necessary, Mr. Weissman advocates zealously on behalf of his clients and fights vehemently to protect and promote their legal rights and entitlements. He assembles a team of highly qualified professionals, including forensic accountants and business valuation experts, forensic psychologists, and vocational counselors to advance the claims of his clients. A team approach is utilized and the client is oftentimes the most important player. Consequently, Mr. Weissman interacts with his clients all throughout their cases and collaboratively designs strategies best suited to attain the goals that are set out from inception.

Service Activities

  • Professional Advisory Committee for the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County.
  • Volunteer for Thomas M. Cooley Law School’s “Service to Soldiers Program.” The Service to Soldiers Program is a program in which Cooley Law School refers members of the U.S. Armed Forces to attorneys for pro bono representation in non-military legal cases. The military service members participating in the program are typically lower rank/lower income service members, either on active duty or are deploying, deployed, or recently returned from deployment.
  • Contributed to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation gala for many years; his family has also been heavily involved with the gala for many years.
  • Leads or has led Gladstone & Weissman, P.A. in its financial support of a number of charities, such as the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, United Way of Broward County, ARC Broward and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) Foundation, SIDES (Sydney’s Incredible Defeat of Ewing’s Sarcoma), Citizens for Broward’s Children, the Boca Raton Walk to End Alzheimer’s and UNICEF.
  • In February 2015, Mr. Weissman and other Gladstone & Weissman, P.A. firm members walked in the 16th Annual SAFEWALK-RUN 5K, benefiting Women in Distress of Broward County, Inc.
