Biographical Information

Kurt Arnold is one of the nation’s most respected and skilled trial lawyers. During his legal career, he has fought tirelessly for justice for his clients and has an unmatched history of legal victories. Kurt co-founded Arnold & Itkin LLP at the age of 25 on the premise of providing exceptional legal representation to his hard-working clients. In ten short years, Arnold & Itkin have won more than $1 billion in verdicts and settlements for its clients.

Kurt’s personal victories include numerous jury verdicts in excess of $10 million, more than 15 jury verdicts in excess of $1 million, numerous settlements in excess of $10 million, and hundreds of settlements in excess of $1 million. Kurt also obtained a $117 million jury verdict in Louisiana, which was the largest single-plaintiff personal injury verdict in the state’s history. Additionally, he won a $42 million record-setting commercial verdict in the state of Hawaii.

Kurt also played a key role in the litigation stemming for the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion, representing 27 of the men and women who were injured or killed on the rig at the time of the explosion. Kurt successfully resolved all 27 cases, ensuring that his clients would be taken care of for life.

As a result of his track record for aggressively obtaining huge verdicts and settlements, hundreds of lawyers and law firms across America have asked Kurt to try their cases. Kurt has also earned a reputation among his peers as the leading maritime and oilfield lawyer in the United States. It is due to this expertise that he is often featured in high-profile news sources that cover offshore and oilfield disasters, including a guest role on CNN’s Anderson Cooper.

In 2013, Kurt was one of the youngest lawyers in Texas history to be named a Texas Super Lawyer; he was selected again in 2014. Previously, Texas Super Lawyer had recognized him as a Rising Star nearly every year of his practice. Kurt has been honored by the Houston Business Journal and The National Trial Lawyers as a Top 40 Under 40” lawyer. He is a founding member of the Texas Association of Consumer Lawyers and a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Houston Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Association of Justice. In addition to his numerous awards and honors, Kurt has been chosen to share his jury selection and trial experience with members of the Texas State Bar along alongside other elite trial lawyers and jury consultants.

Kurt attended the University of Texas, graduating with High Honors at the age of 19. After earning his undergraduate degree, he attended UT Law School and graduated with Honors in the top ten percent of his class. Kurt is licensed to practice in Texas and Pennsylvania, and before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S Supreme Court. He and his wife Tara are active members of their community and St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Houston.
