Mitchell A. Stone

Mitchell “Mitch” Stone, graduated from the University of Vermont in 1985 and the University Of Florida College Of Law in 1988. He began his legal career at the State Attorneys Office in Miami and then Jacksonville. In 1992 he opened his own law practice. In 2012 he formed Stone Lockett, P.A. His practice is limited to State and Federal Criminal Defense with a strong emphasis on federal white collar crime and complex DUI defense. Mr. Stone is Board Certified in Criminal Trial Law by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Certification and is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.  He is listed in Super Lawyers Magazine, in Florida Trend’s Legal Elite, Best Lawyers of America and the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers.  Mr. Stone has tried over 150 criminal jury trials in both State and Federal courts including high profile Financial Fraud, RICO, Murder, Drug Trafficking, DUI Manslaughter, as well as a variety of misdemeanors.

He is a board member of the Jacksonville Beach Bar Association, past board member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, past president of the Northeast Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and past Chairman of the Criminal Law Section of the Jacksonville Bar Association.  He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Florida Bar Criminal Law Section. He is admitted to practice in Florida, Washington DC, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the Middle and Northern Federal District Courts of Florida.

He is the Chair of the annual Blood Breath & Tears DUI Defense Seminar. He is on the faculty of Masters of DUI , the Gerald T. Bennett Prosecutor/Public Defender Advanced Trial Practice Seminar, Blood Breath and Tears DUI Seminar, Lorman DUI seminar, and other criminal defense seminars. Mr. Stone co-authored Property Crimes Defense Strategies, Defense Strategies for Defending DUI Cases in Florida, both published by Aspatore and he authors F WORDS a quarterly column in Defender Magazine about federal and felony criminal defense. He authored the DUI  Notes column for Defender Magazine from 2007 -2014. He has authored over 25 published articles concerning DUI and criminal defense related matters. He has also been retained as an expert in the practice of law pertaining to Effective Assistance of Counsel, Criminal Law and DUI defense.
