Biographical Information

R. Eddie Wayland is a Partner in King & Ballow and supervises the Firm’s Litigation Section. He has successfully argued before the United States Supreme Court, and has litigated hundreds of cases to conclusion before Judges, Juries, Arbitrators and administrative agencies in over 33 states throughout the country.

Mr. Wayland concentrates his national practice in the representation of management in all areas of Employment and Labor Law and related litigation. He has represented companies in the trucking industry for over 35 years.  He serves as General Counsel for the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA).  He has been actively involved for years with the Tennessee Trucking Association (TTA) and serves on the TTA Board.  He is a frequent speaker on Employment Law issues and provides in-house training in these areas.

For over 24 consecutive years, Mr. Wayland has been listed in the book The Best Lawyers in America. He has also been listed in every edition of Chambers USA America’s Leading Business Lawyers. He was recognized as one of the top lawyers in the country by the national The American Lawyer magazine. He has also been selected as one of the top 150 lawyers in Tennessee by both Business Tennessee and SuperLawyers magazines. Mr. Wayland has been repeatedly awarded the Martindale-Hubbell peer review rating of “AV Preeminent,” which is the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards.

Mr. Wayland has twice been selected Chairman of the Labor and Employment Section of the Tennessee Bar Association. He was founder of the TBA Labor Letter. Among his other publications, Mr. Wayland was Co-Author for the text Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance Guidebook, and was a Contributing Author for the text The Developing Labor Law.
