Biographical Information

After graduating from Georgia Tech and Emory University School of Law, Stephen C. Steele began practicing law in 1978. He prosecuted misdemeanors and felonies in Cobb County, Georgia before focusing his practice upon family law.

He served as Chairman of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia from 2005 through 2006. While he was chairman of the Family Law Section, Steve helped to refine and implement the current Child Support Guidelines.  The State Bar named the Family Law Section as Section of the Year during his term as chair.

He has chaired the Family Law Institute, the statewide seminar on the new Child Support Guidelines, and the annual seminar of the Georgia chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He is a frequent speaker at seminars. He was President of the Charles Longstreet Weltner Family Law Inn of Court from 2010 until 2012.  He is a Fellow of the American and International Academies of Matrimonial Lawyers.  He is Board Certified in Family Law Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.  He has been included among the Best Lawyers in America since 2014. He serves on the National Advisory Board of The National Association of Family Law Attorneys.  Steve has been honored to be selected by his peers as a Georgia Super Lawyer each year since 2007.  He is certified by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers as a Family Law Arbitrator.

In 2018, the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia presented Steve with the Joseph T. Tuggle Award for Professionalism in the practice of Family Law.

Steve is a partner with the firm of Moore, Ingram, Johnson and Steele here in Marietta.
